Both 'sides' of the political spectrum are orchestrated with appearances — of being "for a republic", of being derived "from democracy" — by managers of appearance employed by the same employer, with funds from the same coffer. They are commonly-driven by the same anti-human force, Capital, that is, mass-inverted self-consciousness (aka the process by which 'self-power', or "subjectivity", is inverted into power over "mass[ified]"-objects.
Hence, like WWF wrestlers who "suddenly" switch sides — "becoming a bad guy", "becoming a good guy" — "fake" Democrats and "real" ones seem at odds, just as may aeem to be the case with "fake" Republicans and "real" ones. They are all mirror reflections of the same inversion, deflective images which preserves servitude.
From inception, Alexander Hamilton was the consummate "Democrat" (e.g., a "Federalist", a centralist), and Thomas Jefferson was the consummate "Republican" (state and branch distributed power). Each version hides the persistance of rule by the 'virulence of hierarchy', one more and the other less "in plain sight": differently the same. Everything else after Thomas Paine was locked out of the Constitutional Convention was the history of "smoke-and-mirrors", a teeter-totter of a common movement based in "different" lies (and liars) — whose tossing-around of terms is the history of those terminated by them — whose object-"movements" distort away the process of extracting 'real power' towards these oft-just-two-but-sometimes-more "puppet-string" falsifications: a centralization of alienated power to the ends of a Demo-welfarist "salvation opportunity" (Huxleyist-hucksterist Fabianism. of which "George Orwell" was writing in his books, Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-four); a Republi-corporatist dispersement of alienated power into "investment opportunities" whose solution is based in promissory notes and [foot]noted promises. ["The large print giveth and the small print taketh away."]
The commonality beneath their feigned dualness is revealed in their core preservation of 'alienated power' in daily life. That driving force, that modus operandi, is precisely what they intend to hide "behind the curtain" [cf. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz] in all of the manufactured, orchestrated, engineered 'either-or' gyrations so well accomplished by the Capital concentrated in the hands of the Rockefeller and Rothschild families, formalizing Capital (that social relation which defines all the rest), orchestrated at the "political" level by consolidating servant-agents, George Soros and the Kochs brothers. It is both docilizing and toxic, an addictive pablum which is force-fed to the "public" by having them administer it to themselves as "open" and a "freedom". It is based in the rite of the mas[s]ochist.
In the end, Power wins in its daily war against power, because we cease to think in terms of "connecting the dots" or that something other than "what is", in fact, is. We, fragmented (and self-fragmenting) from "choosing" under the myriad of a 'choiceless choice', remain separated (and separating) from ourselves, separated (and separating) away from our own power because we dis-own it.
That is exactly what the Big Show is all about! The "experts", "leaders", and "managers" — and even the people whose hands dance them about — may argue with each other (especially in contrived "public" spectacles) over tactics — glitter-and-tinseled up with emotion-conjuring words like "honesty", "freedom", "liberty", ad nauseam — yet, their means and ends are codependent flip-sides of the same parasitic process which supports the psychopathocratic "elite": alienation, mediation, extraction, subjugation, enforcement, maintenance. Imaginative. Images only. Image-inary "honesty", "freedom", and "liberty".
