I learned in school (graduating with exchangevalue-less degrees in social science, computer science, and general studies) to avoid "taking a test" whose question-format didn't also include my own views by optioning the following as well:
My poll answer is like a "vote of confidence" for the way the poll question is being poised, and the way my answer is being skewed. To answer, gives a pollster power from me over me, just like in "representative democracy". Not everafter having to ask me what I meant and under which circumstances, the built-in for falsification that a "poll" embeds, is a way of re-presenting my views as property relinquished by me to the pollster. Herders do not seek or want minds within the herd, and so, form every way they relate to that herd so that a herd is reproduced and/or improved in its generalized herdism(s).
The "politician" is no different. They extract power from its source and use it as their own or for those "up the ladder" who pay for their whorisms. Once my "vote" is cast (another word for "given away") I am at the behest and mercy of those owning it therafter. A representative represents me least of all... choosing constituents of exchange-values or power-indebtedness, as from the way the game is designed. Thereafter, they re-present me as they wish without ever having to engage me. Such a messy affair to even have to lie to me every X amount-of-years. No wonder many herders opt out for overt dictatorship. The smartest ones, however, fund-and-evolve societal-based illusions and persona-based delusions. They, in fact, fondle my consent to them owning a part of me, with hopes and goal of essentially owning all of me. As long as I am indebted to them, I am in fact "owned" without overt enforcement. I become my own warden. I disempower myself and empower them by submitting to debt. The more they are, the less I am... and vice-versa.
"Polling" me is like taking a stool sample. It lets me think they care, yet, it is done only insofar as my health before harvest is concerned. I am "fattened" for the slaughterhouse. Dare I "pass" too much fat? The "poll" will tell just how owned I have become, just how compliant I am, just how slave-like I shall "be": "I am object... hear me roar... on command."
After all these years voting in 'authoritarian democracy' choiceless choices, I'm surprised at the ease by which the social relations of that act of [self-]subjugation are so easily reproduced here....
Have we learned nothing? Is it just the content of a [correct] answer or question which made slaves of us all, or was it content AND form?! Is "we are merely searching for your opinion" the excuse for HOW it is done, that is, EXACTLY like it is done in every hierarchical and manipulative aspect of class society?! Think about it, when I suggest that 'how we relate' determines the results — every time — about which we are relating.
Like the Fabian elitist, is it just that we all need to answer the same?
The Skinnerian propaganda and marketing elitist wills us into submitting to the same old song'n'dance. Some will change the results no matter what we choose.
The point is, that as long as we do not change how we engage each other — the history of objects relating to each other in a quantitative sense, as quantities (whose "objective" value, and the only value allowed, is with us "brought up" and traded as objects categorized by emergent state-capital into rationally-abstracting object-categories, mediated and owned by parasites in charge of reality: falsifying with deifications and the religionification of what human spirit isn't slaughtered in wars consolidating that globalizing rule; falsifying with reifications and the ideologification of what human perception is not drugged or genetically-modified in the war of atomizing 'all against all'. We are bred to spend our lives reproducing and improving the social relations of thingification
Contrawise, we are subjectivities) whose innate desire it is to self-manage together, mutually-expanding our wholeness as unique qualities.
Until our social relations [cf. Mikhail Bakunin, For Ourselves, Raoul Vaneigem, Lysander Spooner, Errico Malatesta, et. al..] change amongst us — by acts which we invent and in which we freely-choose to relate — then we are merely reproducing and improving the social relations of slavery, as slaves in a virulent hierarchy, as complicit maintainers of, and pseudo-participants in a mutually-excluding "pyramid scheme".
There is a constant polling, as in pulling oneself out of oneself. The only free answer is the refusal of the humanity-depleting and self-deleting mess. All debt needs to be cancelled, and all means of creating it need be superseded so that debt and credit become meaningless moments of dynamic change, rather than assets freezing change into catatonic entropy, or "death".
More than the seeking of suckers, "polling" is a part of the generalized sucking of life from the human neck, all-the-while asking "how does this feel?"
