Personally, even though I had a Mr. Science" set when I was young, and had my stints in geology and model rocketry, I have neither the array of materials, acreage, nor funds to create a backyard version. The suggestion is one that ignores the way the world is currently and historically organized: around "pyramid schemes", where the wealth is clumped into the hands of a very few. Any critique of science or nature that leaves out social reality is neither nature-realistic nor nature-scientific.
The "thinking" that views everything that appears as a "natural ordering" phenomenon may be called delusional because it leaves out "social ordering".

We are not separate from nature and are, in fact, an expression of itself seeking itself. It's called self-reflexiveness and self-design.
Design or randomness? Both! Nature randomly self-designs so that any possibility of expansion and negentropy is not missed or passed-over.
Our social consciousness has been frozen for a long long time.
Is the reason genetics or social or environmental or nutritional or....?
Yes. There is no convenient One answer. Nature is way past that narrow self-viw. We are not.
Nature pre-existed humanity, although the Rockefeller-controlled anthropology-paleontology fields would put our presence at a much, much shorter period and religionists would put it even shorter.
We are NOT the center of the cosmological universe.
The solar system battle with the Vatican were supposedly won by Reason, although whose is obscured in a shadowy hierarchy.
Delusion permeates the process by which we perceive ourselves, others, and all events past-present-and-future.
The narcissistically/paranoically/egomaniacically seen as having done by humans (whether inadvertently with ignorance or with "evil" intent):
- Narcissistically, we send experiential and other evidence through a selfish 'ideology' (that inversion of the scientific 'theory-making' process) whose linear filtering makes Truth a matter of mere convenience or choice.
- Paranoically, the "elite" are seen as being far too successful at "pulling strings".
- Psychopathologically (aka, elitistically) some choose to rule over others because we do not trust they will create experiences that are good for us.
- Mas[s]ochistically (aka, passively, sheepishly, and spectacularly) we allow hierarchy to speak for us, rule over us, decide for us, mediate between our lives as objects and our lives as subjects, etc.
- Nebbishistically, we see everything "done to us by others", and never as a consequence of self-relinquishment done on both a daily and mass scale.
We exclude social reality because we pretend to be all the social view that society needs to get along.
Now if that's not maladious and the self-enabling of disability (aka "disabling") of an atomized cynical fatalist, what is! It is prima facie insanity, sickness, pathos all rolled into one 'evolved' pile that begs the unity of its two currents: social homicide, individual suicide.
So, did HAARP or some schmuck with a crystal and copper tubes CAUSE every calamity?
No and Yes.
Did they cause some?
Surely.
All?
No.
Is it our "nature"?
Yes, because "our" nature is the totality of all our natures.
Was it thus caused by this reified concept called "Nature"?
Yes, because even that includes all of us, and, all that is 'not us'.
However, the small step called evidence too often gets filled in with the paltry substitute of delusion and emotional need, in order to illude the truth that we are psycho-emotionally colonized by "tiny thinking" — as in the works Listen Little Man, People in Trouble, and The Mass Psychology of Fascism, all by Wilhelm Reich — and that is psycho-suppressed from the "light of day" (discussion, on orgone discussion forums and mail lists) as well as by the more obvious enforcements of The State.
What fear drives acts and views of narcissism, paranoia, psychopathy, mas[s]ochism, and nebbishism?
Well. we ARE all a part of Nature after all.
And no one said that we were either "good" or "bad".
That is up to us, unless you're a Heideggerian whose sick craving for rule, or a social science whore whose sick craving for control, or a biochemist whore whose sick craving for depopulation, or a whore whose sick craving for anything but authenticity and isocracy, and direct and communicative access to social wealthis never challenged in their own dank and paltry lifestyled prison-role.
Some of our Nature is sick.
Some of us are very sick.
Most of us are infected.
With Hierarchy, with Authoritarianism, with forms of subjugation whose content varies in time, space, and control-labels pasted on by herd managers.
Some of us rule all of us and THAT is sick.
Some of us manage for those who rule.
Most all of us tolerate the sordid and stale vat to which we accustom our dreams, i.e.,, we reduce and annihilate them as hobby and "second nature".
The very view of who's doing what is obscured by the sickness that lets that arrangement continue. The "second nature" is not ours, but an invading and colonial ruler. Yet, we like good little Vichy "citizens", tolerate and even joke about ourselves with the internalized cops, informants, and wardens.
Until we assume responsibility for changing all of society from the inside-out and the bottom-up, and get rid of the hierarchy which is just us inverting ourselves into monsters that haunt and self-abuse, we will head faster towards the only destiny open to the self-shallowed and entropically-moved: self and social annihilation.
Politics is the wielding of the consecration (or externalized 'monsterization') of self-power relinquished at the point where it would subjectively assert itself, but has complied to surrender. It is an aberration and attraction to "changing", "realigning", "reforming", or seizing" it are excuses for new developments in pathocracy, for new ways of surrender, for new ways of re-wording "class society".
