"Soul Train" Considered "Revolutionary"?!

The Show Sucked

Apparently, pretentiousness and bloated egos needed an assembly-line; this show, in so many ways, prepared the persona prototype for the "black" consumer-object. It opened the doors for tolerating the machismo of "black" Leninoids: Huey Newton, Stokely Carmichael, Eldridge Cleaver. The "bitch-slap" is born as revenge on women, blamed for "chasing fathers away" and for the side-to-side "head-bob", which later elevated passive-aggression to an obnoxious art.

The Music was Ho-hum

Recalling the lip-syncing and redundant dancing, I cringe once again, and the trouble is, I cannot switch or turn off the channel in my memory as easily as back in those daze.

Don Cornelius was a Mysogynist Narcissist

"Young whippersnappers like Chris Brown don’t learn their backhand from the misogyny portrayed in rap music. They l earn it by watching TV & old people, you can believe that. Old people on TV like Don Cornelius."
&mdash:"Don Cornelius: Chris Brown’s Ray Of Hope" by Gotty (March 25, 2009)
"Again, rap does not foster misogyny (Don Cornelius does). Rap can provide the soundtrack though, as Rev. Rizoh lists a few tracks to smack your chick up to." — "Rizoh Don’t Love You Rakes!"
