The "news" is REALly not worth embracing or seeking, because it is the sum of passive contemplation of 'the falsified' by powers that are alien [to us, that make ALL power before it is kidnapped at the point of production] and seek only disconnecting reality from its REAL makers, albeit in dormant state: US. A sum id not a totality, and that is where authentic living is to be found....
News is made not read.
In the 1960s, I recall how what the Situationist International members referred to as "The Spectacle": manufactured protest "participants" would run home after that manufactured and acted-out "event" -- feeling inauthentically-"good", nauthentically-"powerful", and inauthentically-"vital" -- BECAUSE they saw themselves on television.
Now, this "they" see themselves in "news" BEFORE and IN PLACE OF even 'acting out' as per their programming. That is their "new" programming. Together, that is what the "news" is: a mass snoring, a sigh of the massified.
The "good citizen" is a SPECTATOR TO HIS.HER OWN EXISTENCE.
Their chief PRESENCE is their own ABSENCE.
They are objects in "the sentence of living", rather than the subjects AND objects.
The mediation in that 'sentence' is an act of submission, a process, a social relation wherein thje INVERSION of subject and object takes place.
Let's review some historical "events" that this SPECTACLE anounced about the humanity which it was learning to define and control:
"Joy is good to your hands."
"Kool-aid makes friends."
"Ford has a better idea."
"The United States acted unilaterally."
"Congress decided what was best."
Each statement reveals an inversion of "actor" and "actee".
Each sentence contains, reveals and hides a kidnapped truth.
WE are not acting.
Reifications ARE.
The more they act, the less we ARE.
The less we act, the more they are.
That "dance" is the unofficial truth about officials.
It is old news about all that today claims to be "new and improved".
Until we ALL self-manage social organization, communication, energy, food, nutrition, health, wealth, technology, tools, mobility, trade, etc. -- ALL of the evolved traits of our species -- we are "ripe necks" for global 'psychopathocracy ', that is, at the mercy of a herding system which runs all human aspects and traits FOR the benefit of parasitism, ABOVE and AGAINST us. The global pyramid scheme is set up for a pharaoh class. Every day that it exists, we do and can not. That is the only "news" we have that isn't falsified, privatized, mediative, extractive, corrupt, cvorrupting. Period.
Generalized self-management is THE REVOLUTION.
We taking back "the 'social' sentence" structure is THE ONLY EVOLUTION that is authentic and REAL.
"Being" passive is not living; it is not becoming.
It is ugly, foul, paltry, weak, putrid, embarrassing.
It is cowardice.
It is surrender.
It is what a "good citizen" does, self-isolating themselves with cynicism, fear or others, fear of self-interest that is not limited to acting like a ghost narcissistically-exploiting other ghosts.
All other "changes" are OLD "news" and farce.
